Gwinnett County Environmental & Heritage Center

Buford, Georgia

“Their architecture/design studio was instrumental in assisting me with several LEED design elements, building permit submittals, bidding process, and contractor resolution here at the Center… Probably the highest compliment that I could offer is that I would hire them again.”

Steve P. Cannon, Executive Director, Environmental & Heritage Center

The Heritage Center’s mission is to provide an exemplary, high-tech cultural hub known for hands-on science exhibits and quality educational programming, that inspires visitors to become better stewards of our environment. The Center offers on going classes with local schools and organizations. Due to outstanding success, education space was quickly in high demand. A portion of the lower level was originally left unfinished.

Architect Chad Alexander Smith, while employed with Precision Planning, Inc., designed a 4,000 square foot interior with high tech classrooms, a conference room, restroom facilities, teacher offices and a storage area that tied into the existing aesthetics and met the high standards of the LEED® Gold facility. The water to flush toilets in the restrooms is from recycled water from the nearby treatment facility.
