Cobb County Fire Station No. 28 and Tag Office

Acworth, Georgia

"Chad has proven to be receptive of the building owner’s needs and is willing to offer suggestions to the owner as to how to achieve those needs.”

David McDowell, Facility Project Manager, Cobb County

To keep up with the need to protect the increasing residential and commercial area around the lake in Acworth, Cobb County added the new Fire Station 28. The 3 bay drive-thru fire station efficiently houses apparatus bays, a day room, dormitory space, kitchen, offices, restrooms, laundry room, training room, a fitness room, and a decontamination room. Separate facilities were also designed for female and male fire fighters. A fueling station was designed at the rear of the facility with a dumpster/recycling area and covered storage for lawn equipment. An on-site well provides irrigation to the landscape.

The fire station also shares the facility with a county tag office. The tag office has its own entrance and parking keeping fire services completely separate and any citizens out of harm as apparatus leave to answer a call.

Chad Alexander Smith, AIA, LEED® AP was the Lead Designer, Project Architect, Architect of Record and LEED® Administrator for the fire station and tag office while employed with Precision Planning, Inc. overseeing all phases of design, specification writing, permitting, bidding and construction administration.
